Petwise in Schools

Tuesday 1th March 2022

Are you a schoolteacher looking for a fun, curriculum-linked topic that can be taught over a term or are you a parent looking for a free, educational project that your children can do at home? Either way, PDSA’s award programme could be perfect for you.

CAWGW member, PDSA, has launched bilingual animal welfare resources for schools

PDSA’s PetWise School Award programme has been helping teach children across the UK about animal welfare for the last three years, with 190,000 children taking part in the award to date. However, they are excited to announce that their resources are now available to download in Welsh.

PetWise School Award is a fun, free, educational award, which is aimed at primary-aged children, although anyone is welcome to take part. It teaches children how to ensure their pets are happy and healthy, how to stay safe around dogs and about careers where they can work with animals. It consists of four easy to follow levels, each with its own downloadable curriculum-linked resources, which can be incorporated into everyday lessons.

Once the award has been completed, every child is sent a lanyard and pin badge to show the nation that they are ‘PetWise’ and schools are sent a glass plaque to display.

To sign up or find out more, visit pdsa.org.uk/petwise-award (English) or pdsa.org.uk/what-we-do/petwise/gwobr-petwise (Welsh).

You can also contact PDSA at education@pdsa.org.uk if you have any further questions about the award.
